Test Reaction

About Test Reaction

Test Reaction is a free online visual reaction time test. Click when the box turns green, and get your average reaction time in milliseconds. You also get a clear explanation of what that number means, and what it does not.

What does this tool do?

This tool measures one thing: how quickly you respond to a visual stimulus, from perception and cognitive processing to motor response. It is a simple reaction time test, with one signal and one response, measured in milliseconds.

  1. Start. Click the box, or press Space or Enter. It turns red.
  2. Wait. After a random delay of 0.8 to 3 seconds, it turns green. Clicking early does not count, because guessing is not reacting.
  3. React. Click, tap, or press a key the moment you see green. Your time for that attempt is recorded in milliseconds.
  4. Understand your result. After 5 valid attempts you get your average, your best attempt, and a rating. Your finished sets are saved only in your own browser (see the Privacy Policy), so you can compare this week with last week without an account.

The average is the number that matters. A single fast click can be luck; an average over 5 attempts is a measurement.

Why I made Test Reaction

I made Test Reaction because most reaction tests I found were buried inside big games portals. They came with exaggerated claims, and many asked for a sign-up before you could even try.

I wanted one tool that does the opposite. Open it, click, get an honest number, understand what it means, and leave, with no account and no download.

If a score is slow because of poor sleep, a phone screen, or a mouse, this site says so, instead of pretending the number is pure talent. That honesty is the whole point of the site.

Who is Test Reaction for?

Gamers and esports players

A quick reaction-speed check before ranked play. A normal average suggests you are sharp; a well-above-normal average suggests tiredness or a setup problem.

Athletes and coaches

A simple, repeatable alertness check for training days. It does not replace sport-specific training, which uses choice reaction time, not just a single click.

Students and professionals

A short focus check, compared week to week on the same device. It is useful when sleep, workload, or setup changes.

Anyone who is curious

An honest answer to “am I fast?” No download, no account, and no misleading claim.

What this tool is not: Test Reaction is not a medical test, not a diagnosis, and not a laboratory measurement. A browser test includes delay from your screen, mouse or touchscreen, and browser, so it cannot judge fitness to drive, work, or play sport. If your reactions change suddenly or worry you, speak to a qualified clinician — see the Disclaimer.

How your score is read

Your averageRating on this test
Under 200 msExcellent
200–249 msVery Good
250–299 msAbove Average
300–349 msAverage
350–449 msBelow Average
Over 449 msSlow

This scale is a practical guide for a browser click test on the same device, not a laboratory standard. Device, refresh rate, input lag, sleep, and focus all move the number. The reaction time test page explains each factor in plain language.
